Frequently Asked Questions
- How many people can a king cake serve?
- Our medium king cake: 16-20 1” slices. Our large king cake: 25-35 1” slices.
- Can you ship to an APO/FPO?
- We can ship our Gift/Military Box to APO/FPO addresses. We have the greatest appreciation of our women and men of the armed forces, but, unfortunately the king cake would arrive well after it’s freshest. We wish you Godspeed in your safe return home, and look forward to celebrating carnival with you in person and hope you will enjoy our Gift Box!
- What will my king cake look like after I decorate it?
- Is Mardi Gras on the same day every year?
- Mardi Gras or Fat Tuesday is on the same day every year, but not the same date! The season always begins on the Twelfth Night (12 days after Christmas) and ends 40 days before Easter, the day before Ash Wednesday.
- Do you only ship to the 50 United States?
- Yes. There is an additional charge for shipping to Alaska and Hawaii.
- May I pre-order for delivery at a later date?
- Absolutely, when you place your order online, you will see a list of available “Requested Delivery Dates” that you may choose from. Select any date from that list. We generally keep approximately two (2) months of “Future Dates” listed, but we do ship all year – even after Carnival Season, so watch for future dates as time goes on.
- Do you ship every day of the week?
- During Mardi Gras season, we ship on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays for delivery on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. We will have “Special” delivery dates available for Mardi Gras Weekend and Mardi Gras Day. During the rest of the year, we ship Tuesdays and Wednesdays for delivery on Thursdays and Fridays only. We ship via UPS 2nd Day Air Service.
- Can I refrigerate my King Cake?
- Yes. A King Cake will stay fresh longer if refrigerated. It can be kept in a refrigerator for up to four (4) days and can even be frozen for up to three (3) months! Before serving simply remove it from the plastic bag and serve at room temperature. Glaze and decorate before serving.
- Why is there a $15 service fee for changes/cancellations made after I place my order?
- Any changes require a manual override to our automated system. This is a time intensive process. We urge our customers to enter the correct information so that this fee is never incurred.
- Can I get a refund if my package is late due to inclement weather?
- Under the terms of our shipping agreement with UPS, we are not responsible for packages that are late or not delivered due to Acts of God/Inclement Weather/UPS Mechanical Malfunctions or Incorrect Address information. During this time of heavy shipping volume within the shipping industry; UPS, as well as most major shipping companies, have waived certain arrival date guarantees; therefore, there will be NO REFUNDS due for any of the reasons listed above. Paul’s Pastry does promise to bake and ship your King Cake on the date that you request.
